Old Town Temecula Engagement Session
Old Town Temecula is one of my go-to engagement session recommendations as a Temecula wedding photographer. It has a small town, slightly rustic feel to it. I like that there are a variety of backdrops and lighting we can easily walk to in one location. And of course, I love the iconic Old Town bridge! I can't end a session without getting an image of the couple on the bridge!
Kaylie + Tony are getting married at Glen Ivy Golf Club and they opted to have their engagement session in Old Town. We started out near the Old Town Community Theatre - if they don't have a play going on there, I like their walkway with brick walls!
Like all engagement sessions, we started 90 minutes before sunset. Most of the time, this is my first time meeting a couple so that allows us more time to get to know each other while we go through the city before the sunset light starts to hit! We photographed this session on a weekday, which is when I photograph all engagement sessions, but it's notable because parking can be really hectic in Old Town on weekends - best to avoid if possible!
I absolutely adored the outfits Kaylie + Tony chose for their session! My advice for engagement sessions is to coordinate, but not match. I'm a fan of bright colors, and Kaylie's red dress was gorgeous! Long dresses are fantastic for engagement sessions because they look great while you're walking, and it's something you can hold on to as well so your hand has something to do! Tony's suede blazer with a red shirt underneath was also great - rich fabrics like velvet and suede photograph beautifully!
When wearing a dress, one must twirl!

I'm not always in a location where I can get a higher angle, but downtown environments always have something I can use! I like to get a slightly different angle when I can!
I love adventurous clients - I really liked the light in this spot but Tony + Kaylie had to be willing to stand in a slightly weedy area - which given that they were both wearing some sturdy boots, was no problem!

Part of an engagement session is just embracing the silly and awkward moments - I think during this image I was asking Kaylie to lean forward and saying something like, "Yes, this feels totally normal and natural, something you do all the time right?" A lot of laughing photos like these are when we're all leaning into the fun or sometimes ridiculousness of the moment!

The Old Town Temecula bridge! What's particularly nice about this bridge is it's somewhat on the "edge" of Temecula so while there's some traffic, you actually have the ability to get some shots moving across both ways. Again, I just love how Kaylie's dress pops off the background!
